2012’s top 10 posts

When I started this blog in February, I really had no idea what to expect. I never imagined I would love blogging as much as I do. It’s been such a fun year, and I can’t wait to see what 2013 brings. I thought it might be fun to look back over the last 11 … Continue reading

my other blue-eyed girl

Moo isn’t the only blue-eyed girl in my life. This is my other amazing and beautiful niece. I have known her from the moment she was born and I love her just as much now as I did that day 12 years ago. Girl is fierce and goofy and fearless and fast. I can’t wait … Continue reading

cast iron keeper

In keeping with the random photographs from the last year of picture-taking, I offer this lovely shot: This giant old cast iron pot sits outside at my parents’ house in Nebraska. I love the peeling paint and the rusted edges. A few months after I took this photo, it was overflowing with colorful flowers. I … Continue reading

merry christmas!

This is one of my all-time favorite Moo photos, taken her first Christmas when she was just four months old. I hope you are enjoying the holidays with your loved ones. I’m going to give this darling girl a few extra kisses today.

a fall friend

I snapped this happy little squirrel during our brief visit to Macalester this fall. I loved that campus the moment I stepped foot on it as an 18-year-old. It is so beautiful. I loved being back, even if it was a bit chilly that day.

satisfaction

Mr. Phish and I started a puzzle on our snow day Thursday and I finished it today. Why do I always forget how much fun puzzles are?

one more

I ventured out to get the mail. Two things about this photo: I bought these Sorel boots months ago, when it was blazing … Continue reading

snow snow snow

Here are a few more photos taken in the few minutes I spent outside yesterday. It was beautiful but bitterly cold. The roads around here are still pretty dicey, so I’m glad we’re not headed anywhere for a few days. Mr. Phish and I bundled up good before we headed out to scoop the driveway. … Continue reading

draco to the rescue!

We interrupt our regularly scheduled photographs to bring you… SNOW. Yesterday, Des Moines was officially in a blizzard warning, and I’ll admit, I was skeptical. Last winter was so mild that I never actually had to use a shovel. Our ice melt sat untouched. To say it was mild would be a great understatement. So … Continue reading

master of the house

Isabelle has so many adorable little quirks. Her green eyes and fluffy toes can still reduce me to tears. She rules the house with an iron paw, quick to bop naughty parties on the head and hiss her disapproval. But my favorite thing about her? That I’m her person. She tolerates Mr. Phish. But I’m … Continue reading
