one of my proudest moments

Day 30: You, then Many moons ago, I thought it would be cool to walk 60 miles in three days. So I did. Twice. I also decided to do this by myself, in Colorado. I trained and trained and raised money. Back then, it was called the Avon Breast Cancer 3-Day. It was a crazy … Continue reading

deliciousness

Day 28:  A good thing Individual pear and cherry cobblers. Mine with extra almonds. A decidedly good thing.

my first home

Day 27: Love/hate I have a love/hate relationship with the place I grew up. It’s a typical rural Nebraska town–a handful of stoplights, lots of corn, not so many people. As a kid, I couldn’t wait to leave. I never even considered going to college in Nebraska. I knew I wanted my world to be … Continue reading

too close for comfort

Day 26: Near Mooster has no sense of personal space. He is always up in somebody’s business. It’s like he doesn’t know how big he is, so he just walks around like he owns the place. a peek into the 70s

Day 25: Frame This gem hangs in a tiny bar in Bee, Nebraska. It’s a winner on all counts, right? Cool light-up beer sign, check. Funky gold frame, check. Pea green Shag carpet wall? Check. I apologize for the crookedness of the shot. I took it on the sly, so the small-town folks wouldn’t think … Continue reading

Day 24: Three things I spent the weekend in Nebraska. I went to the football game with my dad, ate delicious shishkabobs, and basked in the sun, drinking coffee with my mom. A pretty fantastic weekend, all told. The only thing missing was Mr. Phish, who really needs a job that does not involve working … Continue reading

thanks, man

Day 20: Manmade Thankful for this manmade wonder and equally in love with the pumpkin spice candle and the flame that makes it smell so wonderful. Hello, fall. I’ve missed you so.

above me

Day 19: Underneath Thankfully, we haven’t needed this too much this week. The weather has been delightfully fallish–chilly at night and crisp and breezy during the day. I’m loving every minute of it.

sports card central

Day 18: Price A random page from one of Mr. Phish’s sports memorabilia magazines. It lists prices and availability for nearly every collectible card in existence. He’s like a kid at Christmas when a new issue comes in the mail.

fruity pests

Day 17: In your fridge We have fruit flies. Blech. Maybe it was the peaches I used to make my favorite dessert. Maybe it was the bananas that turned into double chocolate banana muffins. Maybe it was the pears that became delicious jam. Whatever the culprit, the fruit flies have set up camp in my … Continue reading
