the un-fun one

Day 4: Fun!

Okay, confession time: I am not fun. I never have been. Even when I was quite young, I was the quiet girl sitting in a corner with her nose in a book.

And I’m okay with it.

I like being the un-fun one. Fun is overrated. I mean, don’t get me wrong. I have my  moments, when I’m wacky and weird and almost-fun. But then my true self shines through, and the fun dies. I prefer to be reserved, to keep to myself. It’s just my nature.

My family is fun. I appreciate this, because it takes the pressure off of me to be fun. My parents are a hoot and a half. And my sister and two brothers are fun fun fun. They are the people you want to meet at the bar and hang out with all night. They are the ones you want at your dinner party, telling stories, making jokes, helping people like me loosen up and enjoy themselves.

Every so often, I try to be more fun. More often than not, this does not go well.

I will say that I tend to have a fun sense of style. As you know, I love accessories, and I favor color and print over black or grey. Case in point: these awesome boots.

Are these not the most adorable boots ever? I love them. Love them. I found them serendipitously on eBay. It was love at first sight. I have been pondering the idea of cowboy boots, and these Frye boots were just so much more fun! than any others I had seen.

Sadly, they did not fit my messed-up feet. I have high arches. For real–the St. Louis Arch has nothin’ on me.

With much sadness, I’m setting them free. The auction ends tomorrow and I will be sad to see them go.

I keep looking at them and thinking about how much fun they would be with my skinny jeans, or my bright dresses, or my cute springy skirts.

Selling them is not fun, but they deserve to be worn.

((sigh))

Goodbye, lovely boots. I wish you many fun tomorrows.

  1. Try Fat Baby boots by Ariat. Fun colors and generous arch-room. (I have screaming high arches from years of dance training.) Also Justin boots have a good fit for me. Both brands fun colors, contrasting stitching and different and light as feathers on the feet! 🙂 Admittedly, they’re not as rockin’ as the boots in the pic but might do in a pinch, no pun intended!

  2. I wasn’t ready for the sad, but sweet, ending. There’s nothing like a good pair of boots, and those look like something special. Good on ya for doing the hard ‘n right thing.
